Share Power Points and Handouts Electronically: Conference attendees often wish to have a copy of the presenter's Power Point and handouts. This year, in order to prevent presenters from having to send their presentations to individual requesters, the GCSS Conference Planning Committee is asking that all presenters bring their Power Points and handouts on a jump drive. They can download the information onto the GCSS computer at the registration desk. After the conference, attendees will be able to go to the GCSS web site in order to access the presentations. This information will be posted on the GCSS website. NOTE: Presenters are asked to convert the information to a PDF before downloading it at the GCSS registration desk. Other conferences have successfully used this method to provide session Power Points and handouts to conference attendees.
Poster Sessions: NCSS has had tremendous success with offering "Poster Sessions" at their conferences. This year, GCSS is offering presenters that opportunity and are modeling this method of presenting after the NCSS Conference. Poster sessions offer teachers an opportunity to illustrate an innovative lesson, teaching strategy, or research result in a less formal setting. The poster (similar in structure to a Social Studies Fair Project) will be displayed on a table in a very public and accessible place in the Classic Center. The format can be of the presenter's choosing, including table displays other than an actual poster. The presenter will have the opportunity to talk face to face with individuals who are interested in the topic of the poster session. The poster session presenter will be given an assigned time to talk about his or her topic, and the description of the session will be printed in the conference program. Presenters must use this proposal form for submission.
